so i’ve been trying to experiment with a lighting system that gives me the portability and style that i am happy with. also the importance of having my subjects lit properly with even lighting all round was key. more importantly i wanted the kit to be super portable and low cost. so while playing around with the equipment i have, i believe ive came up with a solution that i am very happy with and would like to experiment with further.
newly met friend/designer j.etcheverry was recently introduced to me on a night out. i soon discovered that she designs her own collection up in calgary, ab. so one thing leading to another i was asked if i would like to collaborate with her and agreed.
founded in 2009, j.etcheverry’s collection is inspired by her friends, family, surroundings and lifestyle. Throughout her childhood she spent countless hours drawing collections (in class) and naming them after all of her friends. In 2007, she enrolled in the fashion design program in lethbridge, alberta and that was something she never looked back on, “it just felt right” j.etcheverry quoted. After school she continued her studies in florence, italy as well achieving an internship with fashion House Andrea Rosati. Upon her completion of her diploma and internship she moved back to calgary, alberta where she decided to launch her ready to wear women’s line, Madame Wolf.
while having her over one night we briefly discussed the possibilities of the canadian fashion industry and its position compared to its international market, the powerhouses such as new york, london, milan and paris. we both agreed that it was a young market, holding a very fresh sense to it and although immature in some aspects of it, theres something about it that drives me to want to establish my own position here. to push our fashion industry and be a part of its development, i think this is something we both definitely agreed on and would love to succeed. so all the best to j.etcheverry and her future collections.

so i attended the g20 last year and haven’t really shared some images i took of it. going through my hard drive i came across them and found myself really enjoying them. it’s not filled with visual gore or anger, when i was there the atmosphere was very peaceful, of harmony and love, with the conglomeration of people standing up for what they believed in.
jamie was a flatmate of mine in london, she’s also a personal trainer working at one of the virgin active’s. when we moved in together she wanted some photos done so between two nights we played with some portraits and some fitness shots as well. its odd but a few weeks afterward the shoot i was googling some images and came across an old photo of cindy crawford that made me think of jamies portrait a little bit. anyways, have a look at this pretty girl, good luck back in auz!
here is a somewhat old photo of friend and artist Marc-Alexandre Dumoulin. i do recommend that if you ever have the chance to meet and speak with marc that you do so because his work is amazing, his knowledge incredible and his mind intriguing. i look forward to the next meet with him and wish him all the luck for the future.
